My wife and I were recently elected to the executive of the Hamilton Musicians Guild as Directors. It was by acclamation for both of us. Of the 15 people or so in attendance at the election meeting, we were present and able to stand for election when it became apparent that there would be two vacant seats on the Guild executive if we didn't step forward.
So we threw our hats into the ring, and stood for election. Just like that.
We are serving on the Guild executive because we believe that we can contribute to the cause of our local professional musicians working and standing together for their common good. And we believe that as each member gets actively involved in their own professional growth, we will also find new ways to support one another for the collective good.
