Linda Van Winden Selected To Adjudicate The Rotary Burlington Music Festival

August 24, 2013: The Rotary Burlington Music Festival committee has announced that Linda Van Winden will be adjudicating the Music Theatre categories at the 2013 festival, to be held in November.

Linda Garner Van Winden began her study of vocal music in Woodstock before going on to study at the
University of Western Ontario, where she graduated with a Performance degree in voice. While at Western, Linda studied Choral Conducting with Deral Johnson and was a member of the university's Faculty of Music Singers.

Linda has spent her entire life performing onstage in many genres. She has worked as Musical Director with many choral ensembles and theatrical productions, and is an award-winning musical theatre director.

Linda is the Founder and Artistic Director of 'Singing Brook Summer Arts Camp,' a multi-discipline arts camp for children from 4-14 years of age. 2013 saw the camp’s 11th season and we are proud to say we have had campers from all over North America and Japan! Having sold their family farm and their herd of Registered Belgian horses, Linda, and her husband and three sons now live in Woodstock.

In addition to teaching voice in her private music studio, Linda is the Director of Music Ministry at Innerkip United Church. She travels throughout Canada adjudicating at music festivals in both choral and voice categories.


The Rotary Burlington Music Festival is the only major, competitive music festival in the Hamilton-Burlington region to be held in the Fall.

Beloved wife of Stephen Van Winden, dear mother of Daniel (friend Stephanie), Adam and Noah. Dear sister of Doug (Shirley), Allan (Irene), Wayne (Mary Ellen), Elaine Cougler (Ron), Glen (Alma), Brian, John (Susan), Joyce Jackson (Brian), Keith and Donna (Rick Hughes) and sister-in-law Donna Hiuser. Aunt of many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Ernie and Alice (Doxey) Garner and brothers Ross and Roger. Linda was known for her compelling, powerful and beautiful soprano voice, her passionate love for her family and her community. She loved to be surrounded by nature and especially her Belgian horses. She was proud to be Director of Music Ministry at Innerkip United Church, private voice teacher to many students, Artistic Director of Cantabile Singers of Woodstock, award-winning music director and director of many musicals, adjudicator of music festivals across Canada and camp director at Singing Brook Summer Arts Camp. Friends may call at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 519-539-0004 on Friday July 11, 2014 from 6-9pm and on Saturday July 12, 2014 from 6-9 pm. A memorial service to celebrate Linda’s life will be held at Knox United Church, Embro on Sunday July 13, 2014 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Maya Landell officiating. Cremation has taken place.
