Last night's 16th Maple Blues Awards at Toronto's Koerner Hall once again affirmed that Hamilton blues musician Steve Strongman is the foremost blues guitarist in Canada. (Click to Tweet)

After giving a listen to his latest album "A Natural Fact" it's easy to agree. Slick finger picking, slide work, strong vocals, blues harp, and great songwriting combine to make this a great package. Another Maple Blues Award winner, Suzie Vinnick (Best Acoustic Act, Female Vocalist of the Year), joined Strongman on the tune Leaving.

In addition, Strongman won two other awards. He had been nominated in a total of six categories.

Strongman won:
  • Guitar Player Of The Year
  • Recording/Producer Of The Year
  • Songwriter Of The Year

Here's the fine Canadian blues company he was nominated with.

Songwriter Of The Year: Julian Fauth, Paul Reddick, Shakura S'Aida & Donna Grantis, Treasa Levasseur
