In the words of Yuri's mother:
"Yurij died suddenly and unexpectedly on April 21, 2015, two days before his 29"birthday. Yuri made a difference in his short time on this earth. He left a lasting legacy among his friends, colleagues and students. Yurij was a man of great integrity and role model of humility, compassion, kindness, generosity and honesty. He earned deep respect and admiration of everyone he came into contact with. He was also a very talented musician, with so much more potential.
Yurij received two honours degrees, both from McMaster University, one in Physics and one in Music, also a Teaching Certificate from OISE in Toronto. He was an exceptional musician and a gifted pedagogue. Since 2004 he had been involved in teaching, then running, Summer music camps in London, Ontario and Pennsylvania, USA. He was also the assistant conductor of two orchestras/choirs that he played in — the Canadian Bandurist Capella and the Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus (USA).
I feel that I must keep Yurij's memory alive and the best way to do this is by sharing his beautiful music. Yurij put his whole heart and soul into playing on his beloved bandura."
This is a very special concert. A once in a lifetime opportunity.
With special guests Alexandra Beley, mezzo-soprano, Opera de Montreal; Oleh Sozansky, bandurist, Merited Artist of Ukraine.
