Quartet for the End of Time Demands Much From Performers: Central Presbyterian's 2016 Lenten Concert Series, Hamilton

Paul Grimwood, left, Elspeth Thomson, Kirk Starkey, Stephen Pierre and Adele Pierre. Grimwood, Starkey and the Pierres will tackle the "Quartet for the End of Time" and Grimwood, Stephen Pierre and Thomson will perform Mozart's “Kegelstatt Trio" Sunday.

Quartet for the End of Time demands much from performers: It’s mystical, ethereal, ecstatic, and yes, demanding, complex, and a bit cerebral. But without a doubt, Olivier Messiaen’s “Quatuor pour la fin du temps” is one of the greatest pieces of chamber music written in the 20th century.
