The tale of "my life in the music business" has a thousand different beginnings and an equal number of endings.
Today's musicians are working in a greatly different business environment than that of two decades ago. The flow of money from consumer to musician has been changing drastically. As the record industry was overtaken by changes in technology and methods of consuming music, it found itself losing revenues. Today streaming services are de regueur, and with much of the general public expecting music to be free we must seek to understand how musicians can continue to exist.
The film BROKE tells the story of Will Gray. He went through a struggle to find artistic success, and then he decided to make a documentary to tell the story of what happened.
The Hamilton screening of BROKE is presented by the Hamilton Musicians Guild, local 293 of the American Federation of Musicians.
