Winner of numerous first place prizes in North American guitar competitions and recognized at an early age for his exceptional musicality, Michael Kolk has performed at music festivals and concert halls in Italy, Estonia, Germany, USA, and Canada.

The spirited and sensitive play and inventive arrangements of the Henderson-Kolk Duo (with guitarist Drew Henderson) have resulted in concert engagements throughout North America, as well as in two successful albums. Michael has also collaborated with a variety of other musicians, and made his orchestral debut with the Toronto Philharmonia Orchestra in 2011 performing Joaquin Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez. He has appeared on CTV and CBC TV as accompanist to featured vocalists.

Originally from Vancouver, Michael currently lives and teaches in Toronto. He holds a Performer's ARCT from the Royal Conservatory of Music, and a Master's Degree in Guitar Performance from the University of Toronto. In October, 2012, he completed his first solo album, featuring works by Ponce, Sainz de la Maza, Barrios, and Rodrigo.
