What The Folk? at the Acoustic Blend Café

And the laughs keep rollin! In case you missed it February’s show with Karen Thornton was a blast! She kept us entertained and laughing with her comedic songs, her natural ability to tell stories and her beautiful original songs that tugged at our hearts. Karen had with her Armand Faguy on drums and Tom Forsyth on guitar and sax. Both men displayed top notch playing and added a touch needed to fill out the sound of the songs. We had a full list of performers for the open mic section of the evening and they didn’t disappoint as well. All were a delight to hear and showed what great talent we have in Hamilton and surrounding area.

Up next on March 16, from the Greater Hamilton Area, is a great family based group….What The Folk! This group is full of talent from playing various instruments to singing up to 7 part harmonies. Over the years they have been building a following performing at various festivals and establishments. Just before St.Patrick’s Day be ready to hear some classic and popular folk songs as well as some lesser known ones. Come on out for a fun evening….you might even get to sing-a-long with tunes you know. In true vocal harmony fashion we have A Cappella group Vine Tuned as the opening act. So don’t be shy, come out to hear the fabulous local talent and have some locally roasted coffee from Red Hill Coffee Trade.

As a decorative treat we will have art on display and for possible purchase from local artist Melinda Shank-Miles. Wonder around and admire her work. Melinda will be there to answer questions and discuss her works.

Special note not to forget about Open Mic. Feel free to come and perform a 1, 2, or 3 songs, read some poetry, do a magic trick or whatever you like to perform. It’s a great way to get exposure and work through you’re nerves. Forrat’s Chocolates will be back again for anyone who would like to purchase some of Hamilton’s finest chocolate treats.

The Acoustic Blend Cafe , affectionately known as ABC, helps to promote local performers and businesses. It also provides a welcoming gathering place for people to enjoy great music, delicious food and drink, and lots of camaraderie. Each event has an opening performer and a feature performer. After the feature there is an open mic for any one who wants an opportunity to perform. After all it’s about helping to promote performers and those that are up and coming. So don't be shy. Bring a friend or three and come out to
hear some truly amazing homegrown talent.

It's always a good time at the Acoustic Blend Café!
